This final assessment enables you to revise, practise and then test the knowledge and skills you have gained in the Writing in English for University program.
Please note, there are only 50 spaces available on this course and these will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, we plan to run this program again soon.
About the assessment course
You will produce a written assignment (500-600 words excluding a list of references) in English on water privatisation, which you will have read about and discussed during An Intermediate Guide to Writing in English for University Study or a topic of your choice.
It will be marked by the University of Reading’s International Study and Language Institute. You will be assessed and given individualised, written feedback on task achievement, organisation of ideas, academic style, and on range and accuracy of grammar and vocabulary to help ensure you can further develop your academic English for study success.
If you prefer not to write about water privatisation, you may choose a different topic and set your own title for the essay, but if you do so you will have to find your own sources to use.
You should choose a topic which is accessible to a non-specialist reader, to ensure that we can give feedback on the content as well as the organisation, language and style. Your essay will be assessed and feedback given according to the same criteria as for the water privatisation essay.
The assessment course starts on 16 April 2018. The deadline for submitting your assignment is 23:59 (UTC) on Sunday 6 May 2018. You will receive feedback by 23.59 (UTC) on Sunday 20 May 2018.
